Truck shoppers in the market for a new full-size pickup truck will likely compare the 2024 Ford F-150 vs 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. These are the two most recognizable pickups on the market. Chevrolet advertises a starting MSRP of $36,800, which is close, but if you use Chevy’s online configurator and select the regular cab with the standard bed—the cheapest option—the advertised price jumps about $2K.

The 2024 Ford F-150 is offered through ORO Ford in eight core trim levels: XL, STX, XLT, Tremor, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Raptor. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is available in eight core trim levels as well: WT, Custom, LT, Custom Trail Boss, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ and High Country. Ford offers three cab configurations: a traditional two-door regular cab, a two-door extended cab called the Super Cab and a four-door crew cab called the SuperCrew. There are three bed lengths: a short bed that measures 5.5 feet, a standard bed that measures 6.5 feet and a long bed that measure 8 feet. The regular cab is available with either the long or standard bed. The extended cab is available with the standard bed, and the crew cab is offered with either the short or standard bed. The base engine in the Chevy is a turbo four that makes 310 hp. Maximum towing and payload capabilities are higher with the Ford, but they’re close enough that this probably won’t be a deciding factor for most drivers.

Technologies is one of the areas that Ford really stands apart. With the base XL, you get a 12.inch Sync 4 touch screen, keyless entry, auto high-beam headlamps, forward collision mitigation and lane departure mitigation. The Silverado 1500 has a 7-inch touch screen that feels a generation old. A 13.4-inch touch screen is available, but you have to move all the way up to the LT trim level to get it. At the highest trim levels, you’ll find that the Ford and Chevrolet are comparable feature wise but that you’ll pay a bit less with the 2024 Ford F-150.
